Leather Jacket Lovelies

Finally an alternative to the peacoat jacket! While I have enjoyed my coat with the faux fur trip for many seasons, I am glad to have a reason to go out and get a new jacket! I love to pair it with a dress + scarf or jeans + flat knee high boots. It adds some edge while still maintaining the classy look. Personally my bank account couldn't afford a real-deal leather jacket so I found a great faux leather alternative at Loehmann's. I am so glad the leather jacket has come back around!

Sequin Plenty

Dear Fashion Designers,

Thank you for bringing back sequins! I will forgive your transgressions in re-introducing a) parachute pants b) acid-washed jeans c) jumpsuits d) ankle-breaking heels... but thank you for the seqins! There are just so many great dresses that incorporate sequins, it is hard to pick a favorite, but for the brave, a gold number will certainly do justice at a new year's eve party. For those not looking to be the center of attention, there are several black-sequined options which show a little razzle-dazzle or you could incorporate them into your shoe collection. All in all, sequins make me excited for holiday dresses and new years eve soirees!

Lady Gaga Love

I heart Lady Gaga big time. From her amazing performances on the AMA's to spoofs of Gaga and Beyonce, it is hard not to love her. Her re-release of her cd + new bonus tracks = awesome; her love for Kermit the Frog = fabulous; her declared war on pants = gym-inspiring. Bottom line: I cannot wait for her concert in SF on December 13th!!

LC + Kohl's = Flop

I like LC aka Lauren Conrad. I admit to wasting several hours watching Laguna Beach / The Hills, but when she designed her first clothing line, I wasn't too excited. It seemed pretty overpriced for the basic looks. With her partnership with Kohl's to provide more reasonably-priced looks, I had some hope for her talent to shine through, but I am similarly uninspired. She has several looks with these feathery-type shirts, which in person, just tend to look cheap. It just seems like either there is not enough going on or just far too much. LC I would really like to see you succeed, but these lackluster fashions are not purchase inspiring!

New Finds

I love finding new brands, looks etc.; however, the longer I spend out of college and in the work world, the more I find myself losing touch with what is 'in style.' Accordingly I am so appreciative of all the folks who submit their fashion storyboard ideas to Polyvore. I love the interface and its enablement of searching by brand, by item or by 'fashionista'. Kudos to you Polyvore -- I will keep coming back for more!

Farmer in the Dell

Plaid shirts are popping up all over town, and I have to say I am really enjoying them. Let's be clear, I do not approve of nor support plaid skirts, headbands, dresses, shorts or pants as they are very close cousins to my school uniform days; however, I actually like the relaxed look of the plaid shirt especially with those pearl snaps. You could find one for $14, $40 or $400 so you have your pick, but really all you have to do is pick one up.

Fall Must Have

Everyone has their soft spots: mine happens to be dresses but others range from shoes to headbands to undergarments. I decidedly have a new-found soft spot for seemingly all of Henri Bendel's accessories. (Thank goodness they don't have a store in SF!). I love their handbags, their scarves and their fun bangles which are a steal in comparison to the friends at Hermes. I haven't taken the leap yet to purchase something... largely because I live 500 miles from the closest store, but bank account beware I am on the prowl.
